The two concepts come together in this customized limestone surround. We covered the existing marble with cement board, added a decorative molding, and then applied the faux "limestone". The two bronze tiles mounted in the corners are also false. All of the surfaces are three-dimensional, not just paint, so we were able to add flutes into the pilasters on either side of the mantle. The joints in the stonework have depth and create shadow. The whole unit was then painted with 3 coats of clear co-polymer protective finish. This assures many years of use.
